To Blog or Not to Blog, That is Question

It took me almost three weeks to decide whether or not to blog about my experience in India. I know, I am an idiot. I should have done this since day one.

Three out of eleven weeks have gone by and I feel like I've experienced it all (near death experiences to some of the best times of my life)... but I know Delhi has so much more in store for me.

I am currently living in Faridabad, Haryana, India. I am here not only to do volunteer work but work on a healthcare/hospitals project in local clinics and hospitals. I am living in a hostel/host family arrangement with about 8-10 other volunteers (people keep coming and leaving). Nine of us are squished into one room:

The other volunteers are amazing people from all over the world. I don't think I could survive eleven weeks here without them. I've known most of them for only two weeks but it feels like we have been friends all our lives.

Here is a short list of some of the things I am doing here (I will explain each one of them in further detail in following posts):

  • Teach English at a slum school
  • Observe surgeries performed at a local hospital
  • Assist a doctor who runs a mobile clinic
  • Entertain kids at a local orphanage
  • Intern with a doctor who manages his own general practice

I probably will not post everyday. This blog will just be a forum for me to share some of my incredible experiences with my family and friends. Please excuse any grammar mistakes!

OH, here is the background picture of this blog:

This is the cutest kid in the world, Vikas. He is in LKG at the slum school that I teach at :).
